N2 Science Nights
Science is more than a textbook. It's fun, hands-on, and can even be magical! N2 Science Nights were designed to allow students the chance to discover how cool Chemistry and Physics are through hands-on activities. What makes N2 Science Nights unlike any other science night, is that the students were able to take home handouts with a material list, step-by-step instructions, and a brief explanation of the science so they can repeat the experiments again at home. The goal of the N2 Science Nights was to spark a little interest for science in their minds by letting young students see how awesome science is for themselves.

Capstone proposal slide
The planning for the N2 Science Nights began 5 months before the first science night. The first step was to present the idea to a panel of school administrators and Leadership teachers for approval. For the presentation, a Powerpoint slide (left) was displayed and each panel member received a proposal flyer (below.) Not long after the panel presentation, emails were sent to several local middle and elementary schools. While planning occurred in three schools, the science nights were held at Robious Middle School and Robious Elementary School.

Robious Elementary School
Working with Robious Elementary was fantastic. The principal, Mr. Austin, was very enthusiastic about hosting an N2 Science Night at his school. This age group was a lot of fun to work with, because they were so fascinated by everything. Each lesson was modified to be appropriate for the elementary school age group, comparing molecules and Newton's Laws of Motion to things they experience in their every day life.
Robious Middle School
I could not have asked for a better school to host an N2 Science Night. I had the honor of working with Mr. Titus, the former principal of my high school, and had tons of help from the Science Department at Robious. Middle school is the perfect age to get students interested in the sciences and are fun to teach because of their basic knowledge of science. N2 Science Night left the students amazed about how cool science really is and looking forward to taking Chemistry and Physics classes in high school.
